I was a little sad that I didn’t travel this yea

I was a little sad that I didn’t travel this year even though I made that decision. But I spent this morning reflecting on my last year and I got do a lot. I visited Norway, Italy, Croatia, Maui, Oregon’s coast, and Zion NP. I got too see some many friends, spent some quality time with my sister @freckl3dang , and along the way picked up an amazing bf. I’M BACK! Covid tried to take me out but I made

I’M BACK!
Covid tried to take me out but I made it. I had symptoms for maybe 5 days but was pretty tired for about a week. Now I’m back to working at the hospital and getting ready for Kenya. I got my yellow fever vaccine earlier this week.
I wanted to share a few fun facts about me, bc I’ve gotten some new followers recently.
1. I’m from Detroit, Mi but live in WA state but I’ll always be a 313 girl ❤️.
2. If I’m not traveling I’m knitting or hanging out with my pug Betsey.
3. I can swim but for some reason clam up when in open bodies of water.
4. Dessert is my favorite.
5. I’m super tall compared to the norms for a woman, 5’11. My dad was 6’11!
6. I’m an occupational therapist in a school district. I love my job and can’t believe I get paid to do something that I truest enjoy. As an OT I help students with cognitive and or physical deficits access their education whether it’s working on fine motor skills, vision, sensory, or social emotional learning. This fall I’ll be starting a ☕️ stand with my middle schoolers.

In 2018 I met Elizabeth, we were both #traveltherapists in Maryland. She had traveled quite a bit outside of N. America and had so many cool travel stories. I hadn’t left N. America besides the Bahamas and Jamaica, I found her to be so inspiring. She even introduced me to a huge female travel community on FB. She asked if I would go to Croatia with her when she finished graduate school. I didn’t know anything about Croatia or where it was but happily agreed! Well, we just finished a week long girls trip and it was amazing! Thanks @noppyliz109

Tips for visiting the Hoh (pronounced hoe) rainfor

Tips for visiting the Hoh (pronounced hoe) rainforest
1. National Park tourism is at an all time high and the lines to enter the rainforest are extremely long! I recommend camping at the Hoh rainforest. Reservations for the campground can be made through the recreation.gov website. If you stay overnight at the campground you can skip the long entrance line for the general public. The campground has flushing toilets, campfire rings, and picnic tables. Dogs are allowed at the campground but not in the forest.
2. The Hoh is on the western side of the Olympic National Park, 2 hour drive from Port Angeles, and less than 1 hour from Forks (Twilight ⭐️🧛‍♀️ fans.)
3. Restaurants near the Hoh are limited and there is no food services at the visitor center. I recommend packing a cooler of food with water and snacks.
4. Most people that visit the rainforest also go to Ruby Beach. Ruby Beach is scheduled for construction this summer with limited access so check the Olympic National Park’s website before heading out.
5. The closest ⛽️ station to the forest is 31 miles away so plan accordingly.
